Elske writes: The book that impacted my personal life the most was:
Leadership and Self-Deception. Getting out of the box, by the Arbinger Institute.
It is a fictional story that illustrates wisdom and principles about our relationships and conflict. Funny enough I actually bought it for an employee – but got curious and read it myself. I never did pass it on because I realised I was the self-deceived one. It saved a few of my relationships and got me out of the box! I’ve been recommending it since. I bought and read this book a long time ago, so I likely own the first edition. I understand it has been revised and improved to more effectively address diversity, equity, and inclusion. Its follow up – The Anatomy of Peace, also fictional, was a helpful companion, taking the same ideas further.
Congratulations Elske, winner of the book review competition.
