The other day I was waiting to go through the automatic car wash, when I noticed that the woman in front of me was stuck. She had entered her code and driven into the car wash, but then nothing happened.
I got out of my car and gave her a wave, indicating that I would go and fetch an attendant. The attendant then fiddled with the keypad, announced that the driver had incorrectly entered the code, and got the car wash going.
When it was my turn, I entered my code on the keypad, felt a bit confused when it beeped twice for one of the digits, but continued, and entered the car wash when the sign came up. Then the same thing happened to me. Nothing. While I sat wondering what to do, the driver from the car behind me gave me a wave and went to fetch the attendant. I know one good turn deserves another, but I wasn’t expecting to need the same favour so quickly! It felt good to be in a community where people help each other out, though.
